He sleeps for a long time but Sameth does wake up and simply lays there, everything hurts so he decides to not move.

Sabriel woke up too and is around and about but if anyone wishes to talk to Sam, he's not going anywhere for a while.

Val had actually come to the Infirmary on her own business, business which was quickly forgotten when she spotted Sameth in a bed.

"Sameth?" she inquires softly and from distance away in case he is sleeping.

He's awake and gives her a wave with his good hand, his wrist is fairly healed just everything kind of hurts,

"Hello Val."

[time_dancer]

"Are you okay?" she asks coming closer and looking for a chair. "What happened? Did someone attack you or was there some accident at the forge?"

[makesthings]

"Um, yeah, I'll be fine. I just ran into some trouble was all."

There's a chair near the bed and he gives her a try at a smile, he doesn't want her to think he's so messed up.

[time_dancer]

Val sits and starts to give him a look but decides she doesn't know him well enough for that. Instead she says, with obvious concern, "Anything likely to come back?"

[makesthings]

Its a look he's been getting a lot,

"I hope not."

[time_dancer]

"If it does and you need back up, I might be able to help. Assuming you aren't breaking any rules or are up to no good of course." She says this as a joke, let's hope it's received as such.

[makesthings]

He gives her a small smile,

"Nope, I try to be up to all sorts of good."

[time_dancer]

"Me too," she replies with a bit of a shadowed look. "Though that can still get you in trouble if you aren't careful."

[makesthings]

That shadow doesn't suit her and Sameth shifts so he can look at her better,

"Yeah, but most things can."

[time_dancer]

"True enough," Val replies, her face brightening again. "And if there weren't mistakes how could we learn right? Trouble is just another way to learn!"

[makesthings]

"Sometimes a painful one, but yes. You never did show me what kinds of things you've been planning. I can't work in the forge for a bit, but its always nice to think about what to make next."

[time_dancer]

Why look here, Val has her notebook of ideas!

"Well, currently I'm trying to think up a self-defense device," Val says opening the notebook and turning the pages. "My uncle's fiance doesn't have any powers so I want to make something for her in case she gets attacked by his enemies."

Did Val forget to mention her or her families abilities? Oops.

"What would it do exactly? Be a shield or closer to a sword or have things that fend off people? I'm not sure what you mean by powers."

He doesn't mind as long as she explains herself.

[time_dancer]

"I'm sorry," Val says almost blushing, "I never mentioned my abilities did I? I'm a super hero and come from a family of them." She looks around a bit and the spies a glass of water. Forming an invisible force field she reaches out, grabs it and brings it to her.

"I can make force fields and jump through time and space. I'm also pretty strong but no where near as strong as my uncle. He can lift over 100 tons and his skin is this orange, rock-like substance that's pretty near invulnerable."

Sameth leans forward with a small wince to try and see exactly who she did that,

"How did you create that? I didn't see you doing any sort of spell. I've never seen anything quite like that before at least that wasn't a Charter spell that's been laid into the stone or wood. Sometimes you get them around a person with a diamond of protection but that's for a specific purpose."

[time_dancer]

"It's part of my powers," Val replies. "Here I'll form a sphere in my hands now," she does so and holds it though again it is invisible.

"I just think about making the shapes and then reach out. Near as my dad can tell, I'm actually freezing a bit of time and/or space to make the fields. It's not magic, though I can charge the fields with some. Do you want to see?"

"Can I touch it? And yes I do."

[time_dancer]

"Sure," Val replies and holds her hands forward. Then she concentrates and the effort is pretty clear on her face. After a few seconds the field begins to glow an electric blue which radiates warmth.

"I need to practice the magic part more. My dad was pretty big on it but I'm still not sure I trust it."

[makesthings]

Carefully Sameth reaches out to touch it and smiles,

"I'm so used to it just being there, maybe I can help since I mean I think about what marks I might use to do a certain thing but that's really it. At least if you think I might be helpful."

[time_dancer]

"That'd be great,"" Val exclaims before deflating some. "Actually, I should check with Weyland first. He's actually supposed to be teaching me magic. I think his magic is done in the forge which is why he's teaching me there."

[makesthings]

"Oh well, maybe we could all talk in the forge. I'd like to help you if I could."

[time_dancer]

"I'd like that," she says with a shy smile. "Now as I was saying, the devices I've been trying to come up with will help guard her against those with powers. I think something to get her out of the situation as quickly as possible would be the best and so my best design is this one. If I can get it working, it will freeze time for everyone but her for about 10 seconds. If she runs as soon as she activates it, it should be most effective. I'll key it to her DNA so no one else can use it, don't want some bank robber getting a hold of it."

"That sounds like a good plan, you can buy a lot of time with ten seconds."

[time_dancer]

"That's assuming I can make it. This other one is similar," she says flipping the page. "Upon activation she would phase out meaning that material objects would pass through her. I think some energy would as well."
